Digital Literacy Changes Lives: Priyanka’s Story from Labga, Jharkhand
Priyanka, a resident of Labga in Patratu, Jharkhand, struggled to access basic government services. Like many in her village, she was unaware of digital platforms and how to use them to avail government schemes.
Her situation changed when she attended the ‘Sarkar Aapke Dwar’ event in Labga as a part of the Solar Community Hubs (SCH) India Program. At the event, Priyanka took part in training sessions on digital literacy, financial literacy, and cyber safety. She learned how to use her Aadhaar-linked bank account and access services at her local Common Service Center (CSC).
Soon after, she visited the CSC and independently withdrew money from her account using her Aadhaar card — a first for her. This marked a turning point, giving her the confidence to manage her finances without needing help or travelling long distances.
Priyanka has since become an example in her community. She not only benefited from the program but also encouraged others to use CSC services and explore government schemes available online.
Her journey shows how targeted awareness and access to digital tools can empower rural citizens. Through the Solar Community Hubs initiative, Priyanka gained the skills to take control of her finances and inspired others to do the same.
